A lorry ran off road and into a Christmas festival on Monday night in Breitscheidplatz, Berlin, Germany. The death toll rose to 12 on Tuesday, with many more injuries suffered.
Police are still investigating to confirm the driver’s motivation. The driver is still alive and was thought to be arrested near the scene, though authorities believe the attacker may still be at large. The arrested man was released Tuesday after police found insufficient evidence to pin him as the attacker.
The truck showed no signs of slowing down, as CNN’s Hala Gorani reported on Twitter.
