MIAMI, FLORIDA — Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) the Republican nomination for governor in the Florida primary Tuesday night.
DeSantis received the “full endorsement” of President Donald Trump, who called him “strong on Borders” and “tough on Crime.”

Since announcing his gubernatorial candidacy, he has appeared on the president’s favorite television network, Fox News, over 100 times, often defending the president
The congressman beat out former Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam for the nomination.
DeSantis is likely best known for his viral campaign video where he underscored just how behind President Donald Trump he is.
In the ad, DeSantis teaches his son to say “build the wall” and reads him an excerpt from Trump’s “The Art of the Deal.”
DeSantis is a former Navy lawyer who won his seat representing the Jacksonville area in 2012 running as a Washington outsider.
This November, he will be facing Democratic candidate Andrew Gillum, who is running on a platform of abolishing ICE, Medicare For All, and criminal justice reform.
