Elisabeth Almekinder

The daughter of a country doctor often paid with pies and goats, Liz (Elisabeth) Almekinder is a freelance writer who got her start at a small Southern newspaper near Charlotte, North Carolina, and later returned to school for nursing and certified diabetes education. Liz began writing for diabetes and health websites, when the draw of national politics pulled her back to journalism, inspiring her to write about women in politics, health care and the environment, as well as state and national politics.
